To Nursing Home Today

Dad is being transported from the Hospital to the Nursing Home this morning, so I'll be pretty busy for a few days I think.  It'll be a big adjustment (for both of us).  The up side is he has been able to be home all these years.  He turns 91 tomorrow, so weather permitting, we'll go back down to the Nursing Home with his favorite cake and celebrate his birthday. Wish me luck, and I'll be back sooner or later. Have a great week everyone.

Happy Birthday, Mona's Dad.

He will be fine, Mona. Just you make sure he enjoys that birthday cake.

Hugs from me.

I've been there with my mother (well, it was "only" assisted living), and I wish you well. Of course I don't really know you, but I feel sure you're conscientious and making the right call.

Happy, Happy Birthday to your Dad! At 91 he must have lead a pretty full life. I think he looks pretty good for 91, but as we are all aware, there comes a time where we have to do what's best for them. I'm sure it will be a hard day for you all, and I'm sorry about that. Hopefully he will settle in quickly...debbie

It is amazing the difference four years can make. The top pic reminds me so much of the way I remember your Dad. The bottom two remind me of his father.

May God hold you two close as you make this difficult adjustment.

Hope all goes much better than you expected. When my Dad was moved to a Nursing Home,at the end of the day,he made the comment that he was at home and really liked it.Hope you have the same experience.

Good luck to both you and Ben on this new phase in your lives. You won't worry so much about him, knowing that he'll have people around all the time who can help him out, and there's bound to be a few of his old friends there that he can visit with and tell lies with about the good old days. Wish him a happy birthday from me and Marty.

Birthday wishes to your dad, Mona. My mom celebrated her 90th birthday in Sept and still lives in her own home, which is by her choice. Hope you dad's transition goes well for everyone.

I wondered if your dad ever mentioned the Dust Bowl and where was he living when it happened? That is one thing that fascinates me...don't know why I didn't get interested in it earlier and talk to people I know about it.
